Queanbeyan East shares Canberra’s climate down to the frost dates. November brings the hot north-westerlies, and the young buffalo lawns on the new estates are the first to show stress, so deep watering before 9 am two or three times a week does more than a daily sprinkle. Autumn is the second flush and the right window to top-dress and repair thin patches before the late-April frosts close the season.
