Fox Mowing ACT mows and gardens right across Kambah, the first suburb of Tuggeranong and, at 1,130 hectares, the largest suburb in Canberra. It was gazetted in March 1973 and settled from 1974, sits just south of Mount Taylor with Sulwood Drive along the top and Athllon Drive on the south-east, and was laid out without the neighbourhood plan used elsewhere in the city, which is why it sprawls across the Village Creek valley and out to Allens Creek and McQuoids Creek near the Murrumbidgee. The name comes from the Kambah Homestead and, further back, from Ngambri, the same word that gave Canberra its name.
Almost all of it is detached single-storey housing on generous 1970s blocks, and that is the job: big back lawns, long nature strips, and plenty of slope on the streets that climb towards Arawang Hill, Mount Neighbour, McQuoids Hill and Forster Hill. Ground varies from alluvium along the upper reaches of Village Creek near Drakeford Drive to rocky volcanic outcrops on the hillsides.
