Fox Mowing ACT mows and gardens right across Fadden, a settled Tuggeranong suburb of just over 3,000 people ringed by Macarthur, Gowrie and Wanniassa and bounded by Erindale Drive, the Wanniassa Hills Nature Reserve, the Fadden Pine Plantation and Sternberg Crescent. It was gazetted in August 1975 and named for Sir Arthur Fadden, briefly Prime Minister in 1941, with streets named after politicians. The houses date from the early 1980s and the gardens have been growing ever since. Blocks are large by Canberra standards, the trees are now big enough to shade half a lawn, and the hedges along side fences were planted for privacy long enough ago to be well above head height. The ground changes across the suburb too: alluvium on the flatter eastern side, rhyolite and a quartz-bearing fault line towards Macarthur Hill in the west, so a lawn near the pine plantation and a lawn under Wanniassa Hills need different watering.
