In the heritage precincts a 1,600 square metre allotment is on the small side and 2,000 square metres is not unusual, and most of the area is detached houses with deep gardens, clipped hedges and plantings that trace back to Thomas Weston’s work in the 1920s. Frost comes early to the shaded gardens of Forrest.
