Lawn care between Harcourt Hill and Gungahlin Pond
Fox Mowing ACT mows and gardens right across Nicholls, the Gungahlin suburb in postcode 2913 that was developed from 1994 on what had been the Gold Creek rural property until 1990. It is named after Sir Douglas Nicholls, footballer, pastor, activist and Governor of South Australia, and its streets carry the names of sportspeople, Sue Geh Circuit among them. The suburb wraps around Gungahlin Pond and The Lakes golf course: most of the residential streets lie on one side, a small cluster of bird-named streets known as the pondside promenade on the other, and there is no road joining the two. To the west the larger homes back onto Harcourt Hill; to the south Percival Hill sits in nature park, and Gold Creek Village with Cockington Green, Federation Square and the George Harcourt Inn fronts the Barton Highway.
That geography gives our operators three different jobs in one suburb. The blocks under Harcourt Hill are bigger and steeper than the Gungahlin average, on rhyolite ground that drains fast, and they carry the kind of gardens that need hedges shaped and lawns finished properly. Around the pond and along Kelleway Avenue, where Gold Creek Primary, Holy Spirit and Gold Creek High School share a stretch of road, the blocks are standard 1990s family size on shale-based clay with thirty-year-old couch and kikuyu. And down at Gold Creek Village there are hospitality and tourism premises whose grounds are on show every weekend. We mow all three, and we quote them differently.
